Chlorinated Insecticides: Fate in Aqueous Suspensions Containing Mosquito Larvae.

چکیده
Aldrin, p,p'-DDT, dieldrin, gamma chlordane. heptachlor, heptachlor epoxide, J-hydroxychlordene, and lindane were bioassayed against larvae of Anopheles quadrimaculatus Say; the remnant amounts of insecticide and metabolites in larvae and medium were determined by electron-affinity gas chromatography. The insecticides were surprisingly nonpersistent at concentrations normally used.

Reduction of mortality rates of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis aqueous suspensions due to freezing and thawing.
When studying the behavior (carry, dispersion, persistence) of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (B.t.i.) formulations used in the treatment of rivers or streams for black fly control, a large number of samples containing small quantities of B.t.i. are required for proper analysis. Freezing is a useful procedure to prevent enzymatic alteration or bacterial growth in samples before bioassa...
متن کاملUsing the Bio-Insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis in Mosquito Control
Mosquito control is a major public health concern, as mosquitoes transmit many severe human diseases such as malaria, filariasis, dengue, yellow fever, West Nile virus and the chikungunya virus. These diseases represent a major health threat and economic burden in disease-endemic countries, and are currently in expansion due to increased worldwide exchanges, urbanization, and global warming. Th...
متن کاملRumen Bacterial and Protozoal Responses to Insecticide Substrates.
Insecticides containing organophosphate, chlorinated hydrocarbon, and carbamate were tested with bovine ruminal ingesta fractions. Rumen bacteria exposed to insecticide levels of 0 to 500 ppm in rumen fluid for 4 hr were inoculated into rumen fluid-starch feed extract medium. No apparent significant bacterial count inhibitions were noted. Also, when insecticides were used as carbon sources at c...
متن کاملLarvicidal Activity of some Bacterial Insecticides and Insect Growth Regulators against Mosquito Larvae of Aedes aegypti (L.)
The biological effects of the bacterial insecticides Bacilod, VectoLex and Spinosad as well as the insect growth regulators (IGRs) Baycidal, Sumilarv and Dudim against mosquito larvae of Aedes aegypti have been evaluated. According to LC50 values (concentration which to kill 50% of larvae), the bioinsecticide Spinosad (0.011 ppm) proved to be the most effective compound, followed by Bacilod (0....

Background & Aims of the Study: Malaria is an infectious disease by fever, chills and anemia; and splenomegaly genus Plasmodium parasite is the agent of it. One of the easiest and least expensive methods for preventionof this disease is removing the vector that usually has been done by insecticides and chemical pesticides, but now days due to the harmful effects of toxic chemic...
